Huck finn; last chapters

In the last few chapters of " The adventures of Huckleberry Finn", i liked how brave Huck was to save Jim. I liked how Tom also helped out. The funny part though is that Tom knew that Jim was already free. Tom probably went on the journey because he knew how much fun Huck and Jim have. i liked how Jim had risked his freedom to help Tom out after he had been shot. I also like that Miss Watson set Jim free. To me, that shows that Miss Watson thought of Jim as more than a slave. Overall, the book was good but it wasnt a book i would enjoy reading on my free time. the book got boring at times and i just wanted to go on spark notes but i knew that wouldnt help out. i hope that we will reading more interesting stories during the rest of the school year.

Huck finn; 21-32

I really enjoyed reading these chapters because there was a sense of humor along with some suspense. I believe that Jim cares a lot about his daughter and im glad that his daughter was brought back into the story again. I think that it was a "whoa" moment for Huck Finn because i think that Huck thought that it was impossible for a man of a different race to actually adore and care for another being, left alone, your own daughter. These chapters made me respect Huck a little bit more because of that incident. I thought it was funny how the people got tricked and how they got played. If that were to happen to me i would laugh about it because i would of spent double the money on a show that i was trying to get back at. You can tell that the people of that time were really wise and knew how to get around a situation. Also, I am glad to see that in these chapters the duke and the dauphin are starting to get caught in the lies they keep telling to everyone. It's not right to pretend to be dead to get money. I think that that is cheap, unrespectful, and untolerable. I like that Huck decided to start to get away from them because it shows that Huck can now differentiate between the good and the bad.

Self- Reliance by Ralk Waldo Emerson

I chose to write about Emerson's poem, “Self-Reliance” because i felt that i could relate to this one more and i understood it better. When he says that there is a time when every man should take himself for better, for worse, as his portion, i couldn't agree more. People do need to understand that everyone has flaws and their flaws make them unique. By accepting these flaws you are one step ahead in the game of life. You should always be confident and never afraid to say "im wrong" because everyone, even two year olds, will say that they are wrong. I also liked it when he said that to be great is to be misunderstood because some of the greatest people were indeed misunderstood. Emerson gives the examples of Socrates, Jesus, Galileo, and Newton. All these people all had a great view on life but they were misunderstood because people were to ignorant to understand the truth. For example, Jesus told us how we should live and told us that we should forgive everyone. People can take that and twist it around by saying that you should be a "softy" and go around and be vulnerable to everything. But no, Jesus is saying to forgive one another because it is the right thing to do. We as humans dont understand the great gift of forgiveness so we tend to abuse it. And, forgiveness is then misunderstood, along with the Leader. I am really enjoying what Emerson rights; so far this has been the best story i've read.

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (11-20)

I think that in these chapters, a lot is revealed about Huck and Jim. Jim is trying to get the person that owns his family to set them free. I liked it when Huck went into town as a girl because that was smart. He did well until he forgot his name. I liked that the lady told him that if he needed help to let her know. One part i liked in the book was set at foggy night. It shows the both Huck and Jim care about one another. They have no one else to turn to. They are both brave men but there is a little spark of cowardliness in them. Jim also seems to be very timid. Huck seems to be getting more intelligent with the way he handles things so that he can get what he wants. When Huck doesnt rat out Jim to the people on the boat, that shows that he is beginning to understand what things to value in life and that true friends stick by one another. However, as each page goes by, Huck is getting more and more sneakier. But he seems to be getting sneakier for the good of others.

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1-10)

During the first 10 chapters of the book "The adventures of Huckleberry Finn'', I realized that some of the characters seem insane and are in over there heads. My favorite part was when Huck escaped from his dad. Huck was so smart about it and made look like something came out and got him. I'm very much like Huck because when im stuck in a problem i think about how to get out of it in an easy unnoticeable way. Huck also seems to be rebellious, but in a "good" way and kind of makes sure that what he does wont so much hurt his loved ones. I am also like that because im not much of a rebellion but if things dont make sense i will find something a new way and if i have to rebel to figure things out then i would. Huck seems also to worry a lot about what Tom Sawyer thinks about him and constantly does everything that he does. The funny parts to me in the story were all the superstitions that took place in this book. So far this book has not been my favorite, but if it begins to escalate with all the fantasy then i will possibly start liking it more than i do now.

Kissed by an Angel. 3/3

The last part of the book was how Tristan finally realized that he had to tell Ivy that someone is out to kill her rather than he loves her as his mission. Ivy still cant see Tristan but her friends keep getting messages from him. On the other hand, Ivy is out with her friends a pool party. Ivy is too afraid to go in the water because she is afraid of having flashbacks of when she was with Tristan the very first time. Gary decides to play a game with Ivy. The game is to see who can stay under water the longest. And, to mess around, Gary holds Ivy's head down. Ivy panics under water and struggles to come up 'till she kicks Gary. Later on, everyone goes inside to watch a movies and Ivy hangs outside in the pool while everyone is inside. She keeps tearing up and wanting to drown so she can be with Tristan rather than her "fake" friends. Gregory then comes out to stay with her for a little bit and decides to comfort her in a way that she did not want to be comforted. She then left him alone in the pool and grabbed her girlfriends to head home. On the other hand Tracy is teaching Tristan how to have angel powers to reach out to Ivy. This book was a really good and absolutely fantastic. I cant wait to read the second book. This is far better than twilight.

Kissed by an Angel, 2/3

After being left with the news of Tristan dieing, i could not put the book down. The next 2/3 of the book talks about Tristan adjusting to his new life. Tristan is now an angel. He met a girl, Tracy, who use to be an actress on earth. She tells him that he died for a reason and that he needs to figure it out. Only certain people can see Tristan. Phillip, Ivy's brother, and an old woman from the hospital. They can only see his light, however. Ivy, the strong believer of angels, doesn't believe anymore because she asked her angels to help Tristan but nothing happened. Tristan, who never believed in angels, and now is one, is trying to reach out to Ivy. He is trying to do so through her friends. Beth, who writes, writes stories about Tristan, but it is not her writing, rather Tristan. Tristan is trying to get a certain message out to Ivy: He loves her. Will, an artist, draws a picture of Tristan as an angel and Ivy in his arms. When Ivy sees this she gets angry and furious with Will. However, Will was not even aware of doing this, he just did it. This is as far as I've gotten. This book reached beyond my expectations. I hope that somehow this book never ends, but unfortunately, it will eventually end. Like the twilight saga, I hope that they make this a movie.
